Truckers could be set to take their lead from one Scottish couple and set off on a charity adventure in the near future.
According to reports from the John O'Groat Journal, Dan and Dolina Mackenzie from Caithness came up with a novel way of raising money for the Thurso branches of Macmillan Cancer Support and Royal National Lifeboat Institution - by leading a convoy of four trucks from Dunnet Head to John O'Groats and then down to Land's End.
The couple, who own an imported American Peterbilt truck, completed the 874-mile journey at the start of August and said it was the longest trip they have ever done.
Despite the difficulty of the road trip, though, Dolina stated there was support for their fleet throughout. Seventy people turned out just to wave them off at Dunnet Head.
"There was good company, good weather and the support was fantastic. The money raised was brilliant. We are over the moon with the generosity of people," she explained.

Dan, who also owns a Renault Magnum that he lent to friend Colin Sutherland to drive down to Land's End, said he got the idea for the charity challenge after raising money for his birthday in 2010 for the same organisations.
And keen truckers who are inspired to take on a similar feat could find they benefit from a Truckmate truck satellite navigation system.
The gadgets use the latest technology to calculate width, height and weight limits and work out truck and HGV-friendly routes that can help drivers save time and petrol money, as well as benefit the environment. Other useful features in a range of models include route timers, 2D and 3D map views, voice instructions, touch displays and traffic information technology.
