Growing numbers of Britons could be encouraged to invest in golf GPS devices and hit the fairways, with some of the world's best players heading to England for the British Open Championship.
The 156-man field is made up of stars such as Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Phil Mickelson, Martin Kaymer and Luke Donald all vying to take home the coveted Claret Jug.
With Donald currently top of the World Golf Rankings, a position he has consolidated after triumphing at the recent Barclays Scottish Open, and Westwood, McIlroy and McDowell all sitting comfortably in the top ten, a player from the Home Nations has a real chance of winning the major.
Golf fans who are planning on watching the action will also be pleased to know there are a number of mouth watering groups that have been drawn for the event.
Westwood, Stricker and Charl Schwartzel will tee off together, as will Mickelson, Kaymer and defending championship Louis Oosthuizen.
Rickie Fowler, McIlroy and Ernie Els will go round the course together in Group 15, while Group 39 is another highlight, consisting of McDowell, Day and Bubba Watson.
The tournament is set to take place over the weekend at Royal St George's, which is a par 70 covering some 7,211 yards.
And it could be that the cream of the crop of the golfing world arriving in Britain for the Open sparks major interest in golfing equipment among the UK public.
One useful tool for all golfers is a golf GPS device, which makes use of the latest technology to provide invaluable information such as distances to the front, back and middle of the green, distance to and position of hazards and details of thousands of courses around the world.
