Tiger Woods finally ended his two year title drought after seeing off fellow countryman Zach Johnson on the 18th to win the Chevron World Challenge.
It was a two-man race against the former Masters champion over the final hour. However Woods showed signs of his earlier self as the former number one finished the game with a birdie in the last two holes for a 3-under 69 and a win against an 18-man field at Sherwood Country Club.
Speaking after the tournament Wood stated, “It feels great... I know it’s been a while, but for some reason, it feels like it hasn’t. As far as making the putt and the feeling afterward, I think I was screaming or something. But it was just that I won the golf tournament and to go birdie-birdie is as good as it gets.”
The last time Woods won was in 2009 at the Australian Masters when winning looked to be nothing but routine. Shortly after the stunning revelations of extramarital affairs soon emerged and has since played a major part in his golfing ability.
Woods went a total of 749 days and 26 tournaments without winning after trying to repair his image, his personal life as well as a golf game that used to be the best in the world. Now though it appears he is on the slow road to recovery with excellent displays in the Australian Open as well as clinching the final point for the Americans in the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.
