This unit looks like a small spaceship and is basic but it works. No fuss to install, it has a simple flashing light system when in a camera zone: red means you’re going too fast while blue = your speed’s ok. The lights are hard to see in bright daylight but you still get warning beeps, too. These are loud enough but surprisingly not annoying – though there’s a simple mute push-button if they do get to you. By far the cheapest unit tested, this is great value for money if you’re travelling in the UK only.

Covers GPS fixed cameras and some hotspots. Speed-sensitive alerts, directional smart logic, automute, and you can add and delete your own camera sites. Powers from cigarette lighter. USB updates from Enigma database cost £4.95 month by month, about £50 for 12 monthly downloads or £99.50 for a ‘lifetime subscription’. 2 year warranty.
